LongMiles Coffee Project Collaboration
This is a collection of coffees offered in collaboration with LongMiles Coffee Project.
Why LongMiles?
The People - We love what the Carlson family is doing. LongMiles Coffee was founded by Ben Carlson and his family with the dream of improving the lives of coffee farmers. They started in Burundi, one of Africa’s smallest and poorest nations. With the help of LongMiles, the farmers are producing impeccable, award winning coffees.
More information about LongMiles Coffee Project, their vision, and how they reinvest in their local communities can be found here.
The Coffee
First it was their Burundi coffee. We like the Bourbon coffee cultivar, and that is what is predominantly grown in Burundi.
Now, they are expanding into one of our favorite origins – Kenya. They are refurbishing a coffee plantation with another one of our favorite cultivars, SL-28.
According to Hoffman’s Atlas of World Coffee, “A now prized variety, SL-28 was created in Kenya by Scott’s Lab in the 1930s…This variety is considered to be able of producing a cup with a distinct fruit flavor.”
We admire what the Carlson's are doing and are please to be able to offer you some of their exceptional, life changing coffees.
